Helpful guide on diagnosing power door lock problems with the passenger multiplex control unit and the door lock actuators.
How to dianose civic power door locks.
An inoperative power door lock can be caused by the switch solenoid wiring problem or mechanical problem within the linkage of the affected door.
Then use your test light or digital meter to check for power and ground at the connector when you operate the lock unlock switch.
Diagnosis if all of the door locks are inoperative start your diagnosis at the fuse box.
To check if the door latch mechanism is the problem disconnect the mechanical linkages that connect the power door lock actuator to the door latch mechanism and activate the door lock.
Refer to the brackets on the left.
Screw the actuator onto the bracket.
You should see the voltage polarity toggle with each switch activation.
To unlock the doors the switch reverses the polarity of the voltage applied to the solenoid.
Inspect the fuse that protects the door lock circuit to ensure it is not blown.
If the actuator now moves freely the door latch mechanism is sticky or binding.
Unplug the door lock actuator electrical connector.
Door lock systems operate the actuator by toggling positive negative voltage to the actuator.
It s time to attach the factory door lock rod to the power actuator rod provided with the kit.
Step 4 attach adapter rod.
Replacement of the door latch mechanism is the only reliable long term solution.
